Where is the blue sky?

Alex and I have been living outside of Seattle, Washington (Bellevue to be exact) since May 3rd. I knew that it rained a lot in Washington, but I never thought about what that would do to the sky. It is always gray. Only one out of the five days has there been a blue sky. I am really missing the sun.

There are a lot of pluses to living in Washington too. Outside our apartment is a pond that always has ducks and geese. It is very green here, which makes walks extremely pleasant. Overall, we have been having a great time!

Moab Trip

After graduation, we went with Alex's family to Moab for a few days. Some of the places we hiked to included: delicate arch, double arches, and canyon lands.

On the other side of the delicate arch, we found a duck head carved in the rock. Can you find the head?

Graduation

Alex and his sister Emily graduated on April 25th. It was somewhat anticlimactic. Alex is returning in the fall for a PhD and Emily is taking classes during the Spring to finish her degree. However, it's nice to have a degree.

Wii Boxing ≠ Marriage Therapy

Tonight we were introduced to the wide world of Wii sports. Most of them were fun: tennis, golf, bowling, baseball. However, we made one important discovery: Wii boxing is not a good couple's game.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the Wii, let me explain how it works. The player holds the candy-bar shaped controller in one hand and moves it in order to play the game. In the case of boxing, the player holds two controllers, one in each hand. To punch, the player punches. To block, the player holds the controller in front of his or her face. Now, picture the following situation.

A happily married couple, looking for a break from finals week, turns to their Wii (or their sister's roommate's Wii) for distraction. Upon firing up Wii Sports they think, "Gee, wouldn't boxing be fun? I mean, it's such a wholesome and unifying activity!" They would be wrong-very wrong-for the same reasons that donning a pair of boxing gloves and going at it would be a bad idea. There's just nothing unifying about trying to pummel your spouse, no matter how good-natured it is.

Now, that being said, Ruachel would like for you to believe that she won. While it may be true that she won more games than Alex (2 to 1), Alex's controllers didn't work properly. They really didn't. Honest. Oh, and Ruachel is now trying to assert that she won 3 to 1. Anyway, the match was invalid due to hardware malfunction. And sore shoulders. Oh yeah, did I mention how exhausting Wii boxing is?

That's right, spring should mean new blossoms, birds chirping, and kite flying. Not for Provo. This is the snowman we made with our spring snow!
